The Way I Block (2)

A warm hello my dear followers :)

If you guys have been following my blog long enough (fingers cross), you must be aware that I have been talking of  THE  trend referred to as Colour Blocking. 2011 is the year of colour with this trend being in full swing. International designers like Jil Sander, Prada, Christopher Kane, Gucci and Louis Vuitton have been pushing this trend.
Colour Block can be extended beyond the unconventional mixing of colours. I chose to colour block by mixing various fabrics, along with the mix of colours.
Here's How:

I wore a cotton+silk woven blouse (with very cute buttons :)) with a georgette pleated skirt stiched and gifted to me by my massi (my mother's sister) around 10 years back I suppose. Love...
I wore the skirt high waisted and structured the outfit by wearing a cotton belt in magenta. As my body herein breaks into blocks I wore heels so that I do not end up looking stumpy. But taller people can be at ease by wearing flats :) I kept the shade of my peeptoes neutral!!
I accessorized this look by wearing a bracelet and a cocktail ring :) Here's How:

And the bouncy me :

Lastly, for this very get up I also experimented with my hair and realised that our hair do add weight to the entire get up. Good Morning me :(

Hope you enjoyed the post!!

From the archives - Royal Purple

Hello everyone!! Whats been happening? I am sure the holiday season has kickstarted for all of you and you all are set with your plans :) I have had a busy week with lots of family engagements and as my luck would have it (embarrassed :(:( ) I havnt been that dressy.

So in this sultry weather, for today's post I plan to archive a few of my looks from fall winter. Now before you go eewwww at the thought of all those woollens I promise to keep this one cool..:p

As I was shuffling through some of my photographed outfits, I observed that I wore a lot of purple this season. So I picked up a few for you to see :)

Look 1

Wearing: Tights Ginger, Cardigan Gap, Black T-Shirt thrifted from Dubai, Ballerina's thrifted from New York, Tasselled Bag and ring gift :*

Look 2

Look 2 was a wholesum mix of some florals, bows and ya fur :) The runways for Autumn/Winter 2010-2011 did showcase a lot of florals (read Dolce & Gabbana, Giorgio Armani, Louis Vuitton among others) and fur (read the classic Chanel). Besides a major reinvention came via THE CHRISTOPHER BAILEY (I'm a huge fan!!) who revisited the Burberry archives and modified the classic aviator jackets. What came as a double treat was the pairing of these strong, bold jackets with soft feminine lace, floral and chiffon dresses and gowns.
Though I couldnt be that pro at it, this look was certainly inspired from the prevailing scenario then :)

Wearing: Jeans Levis, Floral blouse quite old to remember :p, Grey Pumps Local store, Bag Vincci
CONFESSION: What I tied as a bow is actually the belt of the cardigan I wear in Look 1 :p:p

Look 3

This look of mine is truly Vintage as the jacket which I wear is over 10 years old. It belonged to my sister and was eventually passed on to me. It is hand embroided and is stiched in fine organza :) The tank which is I wore underneath is in purple, though the light fuses it into a different shade (which i quite like :) )

I wore rich purple kitten heels with this outfit (thrifted from Delhi) and Gold leaf earings from Aldo.

I hope I made the post interesting :) Keep visiting for lots more...

The Way I Block (1)

A warm hello to all my lovely followers!! A special thank you to you all for following me and associating yourself with me.

I believe I have been a bad blogger for not updating my blog that frequently..but you have to blame it on the summer heat which totally has taken a toll on me :(

Well I promised you all (check my word here) that I shall do a post on THE TREND MANTRA called COLOUR BLOCKING so here I am. This is the first in the series of the post, as regards this trend that I wish to do..so I seek your support and encouragement :)

Coming on to colour blocking..Well colour blocking has taken the spring/summer fashion runways by storm and is basically a the trend of using geometric blocks of colour in a ensemble which can include monotones, bright colours, subtle colours, contrasting and complimentary colours. Colour blocking does not remain confined to the clothes but can also be in the form of shoes, handbags and accessories.

So here's how I wore the blocks :)

So herein I wore this magenta tunin from GINGER with electric blue stockings from FOREVER 21, thereby using two contrasting colours in my ensemble. I further added yellow in the look by wearing these ballerina's adding a contrast to the magenta as well as the electric blue because if you are blocking fron head-to-toe I believe that the colours should be kept as bright as possible to make a bold statement.

I accessorized the look by wearing this yellow little hearts chain and pined this colourful heart brooch over it. I also wore a multi coloured bangle making my look a wholesum tapestry of colours :) and made me feel like a child lost in the Candylicious store ::)::)

As this is my first post on this trend, I shall be stopping here so as to learn from your lovely comments and suggesstions...awaiting them :)

Summer Sky

Hey everyone!! How have you all been? Well I am thoroughly enjoying myself lazying around this summer (I guess I do that every summer :P).
Now, I know it might sound wierd but I have never been able to figure out that what do people mean when they say "I'm Bored!!" I mean is there enough time in a day to get bored? Well I should mention here that I am no multi tasker who would rather work in summers or do anything to go out in that sun (Well that's me!!) but honestly I have still never gotten time enough to get bored. I do the usual stuff like hanging out with friends, reading, writing, surfing the internet, watching TV and of course dreaming of my potential outfits :p but still even if I sit all alone in my room minus all this..I am never bored!!

So, what all I sat thinking today that took me to a different land of mine plus a little outfit inspiration, can be best expressed as to how Sir William Wordsworth did beautifully in his legendary poem DAFFODILS:

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed--and gazed--but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

Coming over to my outfit..That's what I wore today :)
P.S I am in love with nudes and khakis this season!! Arn't all of us???

Wearing:
Khaki 3/4ths Kapsons
Summer Sky blue top from Zara
Nude heels Aldo
Belt thrifted

I accessorized the look by wearing this delicate neck piece in a mocha coloured stone and carried a chain bag from Mango.

I love reading your feedbacks..please keep them coming :)

TrimmingsAndLaceAndCrochet

A big hello to you all!! I hope everybody's having a great weekend :) and I assume that we all have done something very special for our mom's today since its Mother's Day.
All through my childhood and till date I have seen my grandmother craft some beautiful pieces using crochet be that various sorts of garments for me (and my play dolls) to table-cloths and napkins. Crochet is a fine art of creating fabric from yarn using a crochet hook and trust you me that it takes years to master it. Well my grandmother has certainly done so and can any day give the marketers a run for their money :):)
So, yesterday when I came across this show on TV that stated that crochet is a big trend this spring-summer, I jumped on to do a post on it...and some where I thought I'll pay a tribute to this beautiful art and to my lovely grandmother. Lots of love!!

Coming to how I wore crochet..well it was done in a very sober way..cause I wanted to let the crochet top do the talking :)

I added colour to the outfit by wearing these sea green ballerina's (you can see how I wore this colour here) and a cocktail ring plus earings of the similar shade.

I wore a lace corset underneath and carried a tote bag. The bag's got beautiful trimmings in pink and is neatly panelled :)

Wearing:
Crochet top from Next
Tote Bag Victoria's Secret (gift :) )
Ballerina flats H and M Dubai
Earings Claire's Dubai
Bracelets Aldo Dubai
Cocktail ring Thrifted (Delhi)

I leave you all with how crochet is available in various forms these days across a few stores namely Forever 21, Zara and Vero Moda.

You can see the same here, here and here. Happy Shopping :)

The Spectrum of Green.

A big hello to all my lovely followers!! Well this post is certainly coming after a long long time..blame it on my battery of exams which are seeming far from getting over..I still have one to go though :p
So how are you all? I hope the sunshine of life is pleasantly abounding on you all :):)
Well in this very post I would wanna share with you all my new found love for the colour sea green/Blue green. I have always been attracted to this shade of green but my affection and affiliation certainly grew when it was so beautifully showcased in Gucci Spring/Summer 2011 collection.
The fashion magazines and the blogosphere have been raving about this collection for a long time now..and I admit I am late in sharing my love for it. Dear followers, forgive me and enjoy the post :)

THE COLOUR IN GUCCI S/S 2011

The trend or the technique that is highlighed in the collection is termed as COLOUR BLOCKING..I am sure you must be hearing alot about it these days..more on it in my next post :)
Isn't the collection and the bold use of colours just to die for? Wishing to own a piece of it soon..anyone's listening :p
So, the colour inspired its use into my regular dressing...though I played safe!!

HERE's HOW I WORE IT

So I wore this shade with black corduroy's and yellow ballerina's. I also incorporated purple by wearing a tank top underneath. I accessorized by wearing a multi coloured stone cuff (one of my favourite buy's this season), yellow smiley earings :):) and the retro sunglasses of the same shade!! So how well do you think that I played with all the colours?? Also you see me in these pics :p

Wearing:
Blue/Green Cardigan: Macy's NewYork
Yellow Ballerina: Lifestyle
Multi Stones cuff and Sunglasses: Forever 21
Smiley Earings: Claire's

I ALSO WORE THIS SHADE AS

This is a simple look. I accessorized the look by wearing this leaf pendant chain from Forever 21 Dubai and gold, orange bangles (thrifted). Also as regards the footwear I kept the tone subdued by wearing white.
